About us
We fish, we boat, and we write about the outdoors we love.
We're a fishing and boating family. We crab and fish from our waterfront vacation home as well as from our 18-foot fishing boat, and when we're not on the water we're usually somewhere else outside: hiking, mountain biking, camping, and skiing in winter.
Fish Baron is where we write it all down. It started with tackle and technique, the plain answers to questions every angler asks, and it has grown into a home for fishing and the outdoors in general: freshwater and saltwater fishing, fish species, tackle and gear, fishing boats, the towns and waters worth the trip, wildlife, camping, and a good dose of nostalgia for the way we learned to fish.

How we write
We write for people who would rather be on the water: practical, specific and in plain English. We respect fishing regulations and never give advice that puts anyone at risk on the water. Seasons, limits and rules vary by state, so always check your local regulations before you go.
Some articles contain affiliate links. If you buy through them we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you, and it never changes what we recommend.

Reader-powered research
How Fish Baron readers help write the next article
Most fishing sites tell you what one writer thinks. We do that too, and then we listen. Small, optional taps let readers answer back, every one collected anonymously, and together they give you something no tackle catalogue or fishing forum can: a real picture of how anglers actually fish, what they would buy and what they remember, so our advice rests on more than one person’s hunch.
What you can tap
React to a photo of a tackle box, a boat or a fishing spot. Settle a one-question poll like “One lure for the rest of your life?” Tell us why with one tap. On our nostalgia pieces, say whether you lived it, remember it, or it was before your time.
What we never collect
Everything is collected anonymously: no names, no email addresses, no IP addresses and nothing you type. Each tap carries only a random session code, your device type, how you found us and a rough state or province.
What comes back to you
Right after you answer you see how other readers voted, and the totals become articles about gear, boats and fishing habits built on real choices, not guesses. We only ever publish totals across many readers, never anything about one person.
